Men's Ties: Nooses
Let me help promote my friend metrokitty who has contributed a comic for The Girls' Guide to Guys' Stuff where she muses on neckties.
Lately, when I need to dress up, I've been trying to go tie-less-- jacket, dress-shirt, and no tie. The problem is that this has become deemed the "Ahmadinejad Look" by certain members of the press, owing to the tie-less President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran (ties being a sign of "western decadence" in Iran). Even Matthew Yglesias jokes that he has "a pretty sweet hipster style".
That said, among DC'ers, it's a pretty popular look, probably owing to the hot weather. Certainly a better choice than wearing a seersucker suit.
