Last Obama Rally of the Campaign...

... and I was there!

Barack Obama held his last rally of the 2008 campaign in Manassas, Virginia tonight, and I decided to go, seeing as how I had never seen him speak in person. Traffic into Manassas was, unsurprisingly horrendous, and Obama joked about how tough it was going to be for us to get out afterwards, given that there were 100,000 people there.

Here I am standing next to a "Vote for Change" sign:

By the time I got out, around midnight, I still had enough energy to do a late night literature drop at home of supporters reminding them to vote in the morning.

That's AWESOME, Dean! I was at the rally last Thursday evening on my university campus. I loved it. Every single minute. Even though I was in pain (I was freaking rear ended a week ago and HELLO back pain!), I stood there and cheered and listened to The Man. And I spent my weekend on the phone for Obama at the central Missouri campaign headquarters. And I am psyched beyond belief for voting today once my stupid classes end, and then watch partying tonight at my favorite pro-Obama hangout in town.

Mizzou's rally was somewhere around 40,000 people. Not the quantity of ppl in Manassas, but--hell--this is Missouri. Different populations, different demographics, etc. 40K people is a pretty effin' big deal around here.

You should see if you can fit in some Get Out the Vote work today, too: you live in a swing state!

Oh I did a little bit of get out the vote work. I only had a couple of hours to spare, ultimately, because of school/teaching/grading papers/academic writing/dealing with car accident crap/etc., but I took some time. And then I took the night off for a watch party and it was one of the most important nights I think of my life.

Hell yeah!!! YES WE CAN!!!
