Jobhunting 101 For Political Staffers
There has been a big transition in Washington, DC, and a lot of political appointees and hill staffers need to find a new job. It's especially rough for the newly unemployed Republicans on the job market:
[F]or many Bush appointees, this is the first time they've been on the job market for years, if not decades. Many came to Washington during the 1990s to take jobs in the Republican-controlled Congress, only to move into the administration after Bush's 2000 election. ... "It's a first for them in developing résumés, applying for open and competitive jobs"Oh, the humanity! Welcome to our world, guys.

I was beginning to miss corruption
Since moving out of DC and New Jersey, I've been missing out on the corruption of my home state and my old home of DC. However, I've found that Baltimore will be an entertaining nexus of corruption as well:
Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Friday on charges that she accepted illegal gifts during her time as mayor and City Council president, including travel, fur coats and gift cards intended for the poor that she allegedly used instead for a holiday shopping spree.Wow. Classy.
...
The State Prosecutor's Office, which has been investigating corruption at City Hall for nearly three years, said Dixon received holiday gift cards for four years from several people. Prosecutors said the gift cards were to be distributed to needy families, but were instead used by Dixon to buy electronics -- including an Xbox, a PlayStation 2 and a camcorder-- clothes and other merchandise and also handed out to members of her staff.
